A GROUP based in Huddersfield growth has won an award.

West Yorkshire Enterprise Agency was named Barclays ‘Let’s Talk’ Regional Contractor of the Year, in recognition of its organisational skills in running free workshops on behalf of the bank to help more than 800 aspiring entrepreneurs.

The agency, formed more than 25 years ago, has its head office at the premises of the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce in Aspley and has sites in Halifax, Batley, Wakefield, Leeds and Bradford.

It was responsible for planning and managing the seminars and bookings as well as providing speakers.

Business people to benefit included Crosland Moor woman Kathryn Conway, who was inspired to set up First Impressions to provide small firms with design work for items such as signs, adverts and corporate stationery.

Dawn Whiteley, general manager of WYEA, said: “Having the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and being able to access the right information at the right time is vitally important to anyone who is considering setting up in business.

“The award is an accolade to all our people who worked so diligently.”
