What’s cooking? The perfect pizza in just 90 seconds.
It’s all down to uncle and niece Joe Formisano and Olivia Robinson who aim to revolutionise outdoor cooking with the launch of a new Italian-inspired product.
The duo, based at Upper Cumberworth, have formed Delivita to whet the appetites of potential customers for wood-fired outdoor cooking.
The pair will officially launch Delivita’s flagship product – a wood-fired oven – at the Ideal Home Show, which runs from March 24 to April 9 at Olympia in London.
The fibreglass ovens are compact and portable meaning they can be used in the garden, taken camping or to friends’ houses. Once hot, the ovens can cook the perfect pizza in just 90 seconds.
Said Joe: “Our heritage is Italian, so food and family are at the heart of every occasion, with pizza often playing a starring role.
Here's a more bizarre way to make pizza!
“While we cracked our perfect dough recipe long ago, we couldn’t find the perfect oven.
“Conventional ovens and AGAs don’t reach the right temperature while existing wood-fired ovens are generally too big, expensive and slow getting to temperature. We realised the world was missing something – a good quality artisan home pizza oven at an attainable price.”
Before launching Delivita, Joe spent 25 years in sales and held senior sales roles at Huddersfield-based nursery brand Mamas & Papas and cleaning and kitchen appliances firm Shark Ninja. Olivia was creative brand director at Mamas & Papas and has also worked with the likes of Liberty of London, Donna Wilson and Fifi Lapin.
Joe and Olivia began designing the Delivita oven last year and partnered with Pudsey-based Hopkins Ltd and MGM to handle manufacturing.
They now plan to develop the brand by adding accessories and dough, as well as offering custom colours so customers can choose an oven to match their own style.
An oven stand and protective case is at the research and development stage and Joe and Olivia are working on designs for pizza tools.
Said Olivia: “With a bit of advice from local manufacturing experts and a lot from our extended Italian family we made our first prototype and before long our first oven was born.
“The plan is to roll out the brand over the coming months. We’ve got some very big plans and believe in collaborating with other brands who fit our ethos. We want to keep manufacturing in Yorkshire because we are very proud of our Italian Yorkshire heritage.”
