TOWN chairman and millionaire businessman Dean Hoyle, right, is set to lead the line at a major event this autumn.

Mr Hoyle, who built up the Card Factory retail chain before selling it for about £350m, will be keynote speaker at the Kirklees Business Conference.

In a question and answer session with local business people, he will give an insight into his business experiences and life as owner of the football club he has supported since boyhood.

Mr Hoyle set up Card Factory with his wife Janet in 1997 and built up a chain of more than 500 stores – an achievement that earned him the title of Ernst and Young North and Midlands Entrepreneur of the Year in 2009.

He became chairman of Town the same year and sole owner of the club in March, 2010 – a month before the sale of Card Factory.

Danny Matharu, event director of the Kirklees Business Conference, said: “Dean is a true entrepreneur, an icon of enterprise and a real Kirklees champion who started his business with very little and grafted his way to achieve astonishing success.

“Dean is a real modern-day national business leader. After creating a business empire and selling it, he continues to support our local economy when he could have easily retired and led the easy life.”

Mr Hoyle said: “Kirklees Business Conference is our district’s flagship business event and I’m proud to have been asked to participate and impart my knowledge to the local business community.”
