Kirklees Business week 2014 has been hailed as the best yet.

And Kirklees Business Conference (KBC14), which formed the centrepiece of last week’s activities, was adjudged the busiest ever.

More than 600 delegates registered for the event, which was held at the John Smith’s Stadium, while almost 800 people were involved on the day. Most of the seminars drew capacity audiences.

The business week was organised by the Lockwood-based Mid Yorkshrie Chamber of Commerce with its partners putting in a sterling effort to make the week a success.

Hot topics covered included pre-start and start-ups with the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy and Yorkshire’s Got Talent; business growth with Huddersfield Town Enterprise Academy and Kirklees College; opportunities at the BBC brought by Huddersfield’s Media Centre; linking business with education at the Mid Yorkshire Chamber annual dinner; trading with India brought by the Yorkshire Asian Business Association; and a Grand Finale event staged with the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre, Huddersfield University and Microsoft.

Conferences manager Chrissie Slater said all the partners deserved a massive thank-you for their involvemenmt.

More than 1,200 businesses were involved in the Business Week.

Chrissie said: “Twitter has been going mad all week and there have been some amazing comments. Peter Jones favourited a few tweets from the week and Kirklees Business Week was mentioned in Parliament.”

With Kirklees Business Week over for another year, the first ever Calderdale State of the District Summit will take place from 7.30am on Wednesday, November 19 with the chamber partnering Calderdale Council and Dean Clough.

The event will bring together leaders from various sectors to debate the state of the Calderdale district and take part ain a Q&A session.
