KIRKLEES lawyers are urged to compete in a national awards.

The Law Society is inviting legal professionals from across Yorkshire to enter the Excellence Awards 2013.

The awards, now in their seventh year, recognises individuals and teams across the sector who are setting precedents in the profession.

The winners in 17 categories will collect their awards at a presentation event on October 22 at London’s Park Plaza Hotel.

New awards for this year include excellence in diversity and inclusion, pro bono work, marketing and communications, business development and innovation and exporting legal services.

Others cover practice management, environmental responsibility, client service, learning and development and conveyancing.

Categories for individuals are for legal personality of the year, legal business woman of the year, solicitor advocate of the year, junior lawyer of the year, solicitor of the year – both in-house and private practice – and the lifetime achievement award.
