A COMPETITION to foster entrepreneurial skill among Yorkshire students has a new sponsor.

Marketing and direct mail specialist Lick Group has signed up to support Umph! – a competition day which takes place at the Galpharm Stadium.

Schools from across West Yorkshire have been invited to take part by fielding a team of four students aged 16 to 19-years-old to compete in a SimVenture virtual business game.

The event, which takes place on June 16, is being organised by business services group Grant Thornton and will be attended by Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle.

Also supporting the initiative are Kirklees College, Huddersfield University, Fantastic Media, Kirklees Council and Sainsbury’s.

Lick Group Ltd, based at Gildersome, near Leeds, was founded at Elland and is led by managing director Linden Kitson.

Huddersfield Town commercial director Sean Jarvis said: “Linden and his team at Lick Group have been fantastic in getting behind the Umph! event and helping us host it.”
