BATLEY-born tycoon Lawrence Tomlinson took company directors from across Yorkshire for a behind-the-scenes look at his successful business.

Mr Tomlinson hosted a visit by members of the Institute of Directors to Leeds-based LNT Group, which included an afternoon of fast cars and networking at the Ginetta car factory in Garforth.

The event was an opportunity for young entrepreneurs from the Young Directors Forum and senior management from industries covering electronics, engineering and motorsports to get close to Ginetta’s champion race and road cars and find out more about LNT Group, one of the region’s fastest-growing companies.

Mr Tomlinson gave delegates an overview of his group of companies, which includes LNT Construction and Ideal Care Homes as well as the Ginetta operation. He fielded questions and offered advice on how to succeed in business – with particular emphasis on vertical integration.

Mr Tomlinson, whose business was recently awarded the title of Best Management Team in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100, said: “It was a pleasure to have 35 members of the Yorkshire Institute of Directors visit the LNT Group’s headquarters for the second consecutive year.

“Our head office provides the perfect networking environment for their members to come together, talk business and meet new contacts.

“I was only too happy to present an overview of my group of companies, field questions and offer my advice on how to succeed in business. This coupled with tours of the Ginetta car factory made it an interesting and entertaining afternoon for us all.”

The afternoon marked a return for some members of the IoD who visited the LNT Group in a similar move last year. Both visits were organised by David Powell, of Auditel, who is vice-chairman of the IoD YDF Yorkshire.

Mr Powell said he planned more behind-the-scenes events showcasing successful firms.
