A COMPANY supplying specialist motor oils is in upbeat mood.

Brighouse-based Millers Oils is celebrating a year of investment and development that has seen turnover pass the £25m mark.

The firm – which supplies the automotive, motor sport, classic car and truck sectors – has more than doubled turnover in just five years.

In the past 12 months, the firm has added oil filtration services – crucial for manufacturers using hydraulic systems – to its range of activities and has continued to increase sales of its automotive oils and lubricants in the UK and across Europe.

The company is now set to open a state-of-the-art research and development facility at its Brighouse site later this year.

It said the move would enable Millers Oils to remain at the cutting edge of technology for products used in motor sport, automotive, agricultural vehicles and industry applications.

Millers Oils has also made a series of staff appointments in the past year as part of efforts to further develop the business and improve the efficiency of its manufacturing processes.

Joint managing director Nevil Hall said: “We are well-known for our product innovation in the automotive sector and in the field of motorsport.

“However, it is in research and development and industrial services where we are expanding and we have gained a market position few of our competitors can enjoy.

“In the past five years, we have doubled our turnover, increased services and maintained the very high quality of our products – all of this against the backdrop of the toughest recession in living memory.

“Where our competitors have scaled back operations or retreated from the UK market altogether, we have continued to innovate, supplying our expertise to the motorsport industry, automotive sector and to our growing list of industrial customers.

“And all the while we have been creating jobs by adding to the Millers Oils team.”

Mr Hall said: “This hard work and perseverance will provide the platform for future growth and we are excited by what Millers Oils can achieve now we have a sector leading research and development facility in place.”

The company, founded in 1887, is based in Brighouse and has depots at sites including Aberdeen, Glasgow and Leicester.

It is a market leader for innovation – with products including the ECOMAX range of petrol and diesel fuel treatments to provide vehicles with improved fuel economy and emission reductions.
