An energy-buying consortium for Calderdale businesses is set to stage its next energy roadshow.

The 6C Calderdale, launched by Calderdale Council in conjunction with Elland-based energy broker Orchard Energy, is inviting Calderdale-based businesses to learn more about the cost-saving initiative by attending the breakfast event from 8.30am to 10.30am on Friday at Orchard Energy’s offices on Park Road.

The 6C roadshow will show how local businesses can benefit from pooling resources for greater buying power.

Orchard Energy is inviting firms to bring along their energy bills to be audited by energy experts to see how they could make significant energy cost savings.

Attendees will also hear about the latest initiatives for businesses by Northern Powergrid. Guest speaker Stephen Smith will deliver a short presentation and explain how it is keen to work more closely with SMEs to provide a better service to its customers.

Businesses signing up to the 6C consortium will be provided with a dedicated account manager by Orchard Energy who will work with them to achieve measurable energy savings.

They will also have support from the council to access funding where available for energy reduction strategies – along with entry into Calderdale’s environmental business awards scheme.

Gareth Henderson, managing director of Orchard Energy, said: “We have been working with businesses in Calderdale for over 10 years and are really looking forward to hosting our second 6C roadshow in Elland and signing up more businesses from the area.

“6C is a great way for small businesses to benefit from the perks that bigger businesses get, as well as an opportunity to increase their efficiency, which helps to reduce uncertainty in this current economic climate.”

Clr Barry Collins, Calderdale Council’s cabinet member for regeneration and economic development, said: “Calderdale has a thriving business community of all sizes and from a wide range of sectors. In particular, it has a high population of manufacturing businesses that are heavy energy users.

“This exclusive initiative has been designed to bring together local businesses that want to reduce their overheads and play an important part in improving their local environment.”
