YOUNGSTERS from Huddersfield are set to compete against hundreds of others in an outdoor adventure competition.

Two teams from Newsome High School and Sports College will compete in the 2008 Fieldfare Kielder Challenge which provides team-building and problem-solving games for able-bodied and disabled youngsters aged 13 to 16.

The competition is organised by outdoor access charity the Fieldfare Trust and supported by banking giant HSBC.

The first stage of the competition involves the eight-people teams of students taking part in a series of challenges in their own school with help from trained HSBC volunteers.

After that, they will compete in a regional heat when points will be awarded for teamwork.

The top scoring teams from each region will take part in the final to be held over two days in September when they will compete in large-scale games staged at Kielder Forest and on Kielder Water in Northumberland.
