BUSINESSMAN Paul Massey celebrated his 50th birthday in style by raising £930 for good causes.

Mr Massey, of Oakes, asked family and friends to make donations to charity instead of buying him presents when he held his birthday bash at the YMCA sports complex at Salendine Nook.

In addition to the £420 given by party guests, Mr Massey raffled a framed signed Huddersfield Town shirt to add an extra £510.

Mr Massey, a director of Lindley-based Trusted Financial Advice, presented cheques for £465 to Elaine Gill, of Kirkwood Hospice, and Paul Cotton, of Debra, the national charity for people with a rare genetic skin-blistering condition.

Mr Massey and fellow director Kevin Rukin also presented the signed shirt to winner Paula Wood, of Meltham.

The presentation took place at Marsh Liberal Club.
