A company building affordable luxury housing in West Yorkshire has won a prestigious award.

Birstall-based Planned Contracts won the New Dwellings – Large Development category at the Yorkshire LABC Building Excellence Awards for its development of 10 Moor Mews properties in Bradford. The development is part of the Help to Buy scheme to get first-time buyers onto the property ladder.

Planned Contracts was set up in 2013 by Stephen Owens to build a range of properties across the region from affordable luxury housing to new office facilities.

The Yorkshire Local Authority Building Contractors (LANB) Building Excellence Awards, which took place at Unity Works in Wakefield, saw leading businesses from West Yorkshire compete in 13 categories.

The awards, which cover Kirklees, Bradford, Calderdale, Leeds and Wakefield, are designed to celebrate all that’s good in the construction industry and highlight the positive work and craftsmanship of the property industry in the north.

Mr Owens said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be nominated for this award, let alone win it and I want to thank my staff for all their hard work. I also want to thank all the subcontractors, suppliers and councillors for their work too as they played a crucial part in making sure those properties were completed.”

Planned Contracts now joins the shortlist for the LABC Grand Finals, which takes place in November at Westminster Park Plaza in London and includes all regional winners from all around the country.
