Law firm Ramsdens took one of the top accolades at this year’s Yorkshire Legal Awards 2015.

The firm, which is based in Huddersfield, won the title of Law Firm of the Year for 11 to 30 partners.

In addition, its private client and residential conveyancing teams were highly commended at the awards, which were held at Nw Dock Hall in Leeds and hosted by BBC reporter Steph McGovern.

Karen James, partner and head of residential conveyancing, was named Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year for 2015 after being described by the judging panel as a solicitor who was “storming ahead” of her competition.

Said Karen said: ”I am absolutely thrilled that the efforts of every single person within our organisation have been recognised.

“As for the personal award of Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year, I am still, quite frankly, overwhelmed, not only in receiving the award itself, but by the messages of support and congratulations pouring in from all sectors of the industry. It is actually a very humbling experience.”

The awards cap a busy and successful year for Ramsdens – with the completion of its recent merger with Baxter Caulfield. The firm has grown steadily in the past few years and now boasts 250 staff across 10 offices.

Managing partner Paul Joyce said: “We’re delighted to receive these awards and recognition and see it as a real achievement for the whole firm.”

The awards follows the recent announcement that Ramsdens is also ranked in The Lawyer Top 200 UK Law Firms 2015 list.
