THREE people from the Hollybank Centre at Mirfield have raised more than £500 by completing the Leeds Half Marathon.

Stephanie Fairweather and Mick Hewitt, social care staff from one of Hollybank's homes in the community, took part in the race to raise cash for the Hollybank Trust.

Seasoned runner Mick ran the race pushing Sarah Brannan, a Hollybank service user, in her wheelchair.

They joined 5,700 runners.

Mick completed the 13-mile course in 2hr 2min and 12sec while Stephanie finished in 2hr 35min.

Said Mick: "It really was an excellent day. It was hard work pushing Sarah, but the crowds were fantastic and their cheers really helped us to keep going.

"It was an amazing experience and I'm really proud. The fact we raised money for Hollybank is even better."

The Hollybank Trust is a charity providing education, care and often a home for children, young people and adult with profound physical disabilities and related learning difficulties.
