A COMPANY developing education toys and games for nursery and primary aged children has won an industry award for one of its products.
Shelley-based Millwood Education received a Practical Pre-School Best Childcare Award for its Snuggly Den, described by the judged as “a cosy little place for a group of friends to sit in, yet a small enough space in which a single child can feel snug”.
Now the company, formed in 2008, is hoping that the accolade will provide the springboard for more new products and increased sales.
Company founder Ann Yates said: “We designed the Snuggly Den after researching the needs of pre-school children and studying the curriculum.
“Children need an area which they feel is their own private space either by themselves of within a small group.
“The Den allows the children to fulfil this need, they also have the choice of where the den should be as its light enough for them to carry on their own.
“Many nursery settings have limited space and so we made sure the Den would be practical and didn’t need much space.
“We are delighted and very proud that the Den won a silver award in the 2011 Practical Pre School Awards.”
Millwood Education has a range of more than 300 products, including easels, water tables and sand pits, fun charts, musical instruments, play mats, toy cooking sets, play kitchens and gardening tools.
