Young entrepreneur Fraser Doherty will spread the news about his jam-making business when he joins a top line-up of speakers at the Kirklees Business Conference next month.

After being taught how to make jam in his grandmother’s kitchen in Scotland at the age of 14, Fraser came up with a way of making jam 100% from fruit. At 16, he presented his brand, SuperJam, to Waitrose and went on to become the youngest ever supplier to a major supermarket.

SuperJam has since grown to sell millions of jars through thousands of supermarkets around the world.

And as well as being a commercial success, the business has invested in successful charitable projects. Fraser has run hundreds of free tea parties for the elderly in Europe, Korea and Australia and has set up community “beehives” in the UK and Korea.

Delegates can join Fraser and hear about his career as a jam entrepreneur at Kirklees Business Conference on October 15 at the John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield.

The conference is being organised by the Lockwood-based Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce to bring inspiring speakers to meet Kirklees businesses and provide exhibition space for companies to highlight their products and services.

Conferences manager Chrissie Slater said: ”Fraser started SuperJam with no funds, no experience and no idea of how supermarkets worked, yet he took this business from start-up through expansion into hugely successful export.

“His learning is invaluable to businesses from start-up right through to businesses which are considering expansion through exporting. His seminar upholds the ethos of Kirklees Business Conference – to trade more and to grow.”
