A TRAVEL firm with regional offices in Huddersfield has landed a major deal.

Co-operative Travel Management, which has offices at Bradley Business Park, has been awarded preferred supplier status by the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium.

The three-year contract – worth about £5m – will see the firm providing business travel services for hundreds of staff and students at 40 universities across the Midlands and the South.

The announcement was made by CTM general manager Anthony Rissbrook at the organisation’s annual conference in Manchester.

He said: “This is a fantastic start to the year for us.

“Not only is it an extremely valuable piece of business it should also open the doors to providing business travel management for a number of universities in the South.”

The new deal comes hot on the heels of CTM winning a contract worth about £1m a year to manage the business travel requirements of Cardiff University.

In addition, CTM – part of the Co-operative Travel Group – has 10 university and higher education colleges across the UK among its clients.

Universities involved in the SUPC deal include ones in Gloucestershire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Suffolk, Middlesex, Essex and Kent.
