Celebrity mums are among the customers of a designer childrenswear retailer in Denby Dale.
Your Children’s Wardrobe, owned by Barnsley-born businesswoman Amanda Evans, celebrated its fifth anniversary with a three-day in-store celebration involving cupcakes, coffee and champagne and a chance to browse new summer collections.
The store has established itself online – with international customers as far away as Hawaii and Australia – and has enjoyed consistent growth in sales year-on-year despite the serious decline in the luxury childrenswear sector during the recession.
Raising the retailer’s profile on social media has resulted in a celebrity following – with the retailer dressing the children of famous faces, including former Coronation Street actresses Katherine Kelly and Lucy-Jo Hudson.
Said Amanda: “Seeing the business grow has been fantastic and a vast amount of work has gone in to ensuring that we only stock the best collections from brands that our customers – and their children – want to shop.
“I started the business in the midst of an economic downturn, but we’ve invested time and money into constantly growing our presence in the market, taking ourselves online and developing a loyal customer base that know they can come to us for a very personal service.
“We’re very family orientated. My mum helps me during the buying season and works regularly in the shop and my son Seth influences a lot of the collections for boys that we have introduced.”
Said Amanda: “The next year is looking like a busy one for Your Children’s Wardrobe with various development plans in place to take the business to the next level in retailing.
“But we’ll always remain true to our ethos of sourcing the highest quality, new and interesting clothing for children.”
