Army of cyclists to ride from home of Huddersfield Town to Brighton and Hove Albion

ABOUT 180 cyclists have responded to a rallying call from Huddersfield Town’s chairman.

Dean Hoyle led 22 riders on a fundraising trip to Southend United in 2009 to coincide with the club’s first away fixture of last season.

The Pedal for Pounds event raised £52,000 for the Keep it Up campaign to help the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Town’s Academy.

Its success prompted Hoyle to throw down the gauntlet again this year.

This time, under the tagline “to the Withdean with Dean”, he will lead nearly nine times as many cyclists to Brighton and Hove Albion’s Withdean Stadium for Town’s final away game of the season.

Most of the riders met up at the Galpharm Stadium last night to find out more about the event and have their bikes checked.

Among those joining Hoyle for the ride will be Town commercial director Sean Jarvis who also took part in last seasons’s challenge.
