MP walks in support of three charities

HUDDERSFIELD MP Barry Sheerman will lead a sponsored walk through his constituency in aid of three charities.

Mr Sheerman, 68, will walk 10 miles on Sunday to raise money for Leukaemia Research, the Examiner’s Sign Up For Sudders appeal and the Dominic Rodgers Trust.

All three causes are personal to the MP.

He has been involved in raising awareness about carbon monoxide with the Dominic Rodgers Trust, which was set up in memory of 10-year-old Fartown boy Dominic Rodgers, who died of carbon monoxide poisoning in 2004.

Mr Sheerman has been involved in fundraising events for Leukaemia Research, in memory of Brighouse doctor Donna McCormick, who was a family friend and died in January.

Mr Sheerman is also supporting the Examiner’s Sign Up For Sudders appeal, which is a community bank account set up to raise funds for the Anthony Nolan Trust and Leukaemia Research.
