MP walks in support of three charities

It was created in memory of Examiner journalist Adrian Sudbury, who died aged 27 on August 20, after a two-year fight with leukaemia.

He had dedicated his last few months to his Sign Up For Sudders campaign to educate people about bone marrow donation.

Mr Sheerman said: “In a sense, I am doing this because of anger at losing people like Adrian and Donna. When we see a young man, a young woman and a child die in such an unnecessary way, you can’t just regret it. I want to be able to do something positive.

“So many people in Huddersfield cared about these people and want to help in their own way.”

Around 15 people will walk with Mr Sheerman on Sunday. The walkers will meet at Huddersfield Central Lodge Hotel, at Beast Market, at 10am and transfer to the starting point at Almondbury Parish Church.

Anyone who wants to join the walk or sponsor Mr Sheerman can call his constituency office on 01484 451382. Alternatively, send a cheque payable to any of the three charities, to Gill Sullivan at The Labour Party, 6 Cross Church Street, Huddersfield, HD1 2PT.
