Students sign-up for Sudders

NEW students were encouraged to sign up as bone marrow donors at Huddersfield University’s Freshers’ Fair.

Thousands of first-year students flocked to Huddersfield Sports Centre yesterday for the event.

Information on bone marrow donation was given out at the event by the Anthony Nolan Trust and the National Blood Service, as part of the Examiner’s Sign Up For Sudders campaign.

The campaign was launched by Examiner journalist Adrian Sudbury in May this year, after he was told he had only months left to live.

Adrian, 27, died of leukaemia on August 20 after an 18-month fight.

His campaign aimed to make people aware of the need for more bone marrow donors – and he especially wanted to get the message across to young people.
