Students sign-up for Sudders

At the NBS stand, they had enrolled more than 100 people to be blood donors. Adrian was keen to promote blood donation too, as he himself needed many transfusions during his treatment.

To join the bone marrow register via the NBS, you must be eligible to be a blood donor – although this requirement does not apply to the ANT register.

Leyla Ibrahim, of the NBS, said: “We are really pleased with the way it’s gone today. We’ve had a lot of enrolments. We have also had a lot of people asking about bone marrow donation – but they have to enrol as blood donors first.”

Many of the young people coming to the stall were already registered as blood donors, but having left home, wanted to find out where their nearest donor clinics would be in Huddersfield.

The NBS will hold blood donation sessions at the university’s Quayside building on December 4, from 11am to 1pm and 2.45pm to 4.30pm.
