Keith said: “We picked up the award and we are delighted.’’
Keith spoke to the guests at the awards about Adrian's campaign to educate people about bone marrow donation.
He added: “I spoke briefly about the campaign and the fact that we are hoping to get funding for the next stage, for volunteers to go into schools and give talks.
“We are hoping for news on that in the next few weeks. We got a good response. We feel we have to explain to people what the campaign was all about and what Adrian was trying to do.’’
Peter McCormick, chairman of the awards, said Adrian’s campaign had inspired the judging panel.
He said: “All the judges were deeply moved by Adrian’s achievements at what must have been an incredibly difficult time for him, his family and his friends.
“He never gave up in his campaign to raise awareness about bone marrow donation and this award is a fitting tribute to his strength and determination.”
