£2,500 donated by readers paid out to leukaemia charities

GENEROUS Examiner readers have given a huge funding boost to two charities in memory of Adrian Sudbury.
The Examiner paid out £2,500, which had been donated to the Sign Up For Sudders account, set up in September following the death of Examiner journalist Adrian Sudbury.
Adrian, 27, died in August after a two-year battle with leukaemia.
He spent his final months campaigning to raise awareness about bone marrow donation and fighting to have young people educated in schools and colleges about the issue.
He asked for Leukaemia Research and the Anthony Nolan Trust, which runs one of the UK’s two donor registers, to benefit from Sign Up For Sudders cash.
The £2,500 was split between the two charities with each receiving £1,250.
The money is just one lasting legacy. Another is securing the approval of the Government in providing education packs to schools and colleges about the need for organ donors.
Gillian Edwards, North of England and North Wales fundraiser for Leukaemia Research, is pictured receiving a cheque from Examiner reporter Katie Campling, who has been co-ordinating the Sign Up For Sudders campaign and account.
