Come on, get voting for Adrian and Baldy's Blog
Jan 12 2009 by Sam Casey, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
THE multi-award-winning Baldy’s Blog has been shortlisted for another top prize.
But it could well rely on Examiner readers to help Adrian Sudbury to win it posthumously.
With under 48 hours before voting ends it needs your help to be in with a chance and the blog is just over 1,200 votes off winning.
The blog chronicled Examiner reporter Adrian Sudbury’s two-year battle with leukaemia.
It won him a clutch of awards, including the Multi-Media Journalist of the Year title at the prestigious Press Gazette Awards, shortly before his death on August 20 last year.
He had earlier won the Best Medical/Health Issues prize in the 2007 Weblog Awards.
Now the judges of the global competition, which is decided by a public vote, have shortlisted Baldy’s Blog in the Best UK Blog category for the 2009 poll.
Adrian’s father, Keith, said: “Like the Duracell bunny, this blog just keeps on going.
“Whether or not he wins he produced something very special and there is no doubt that his work and campaign will save lives.
“The more votes we can gather the more we can raise awareness of his education campaign, which we are working on with the Government and the Anthony Nolan Trust.”
Adrian, 27, spent his final months campaigning to raise awareness about bone marrow donation and fighting to have young people educated in schools and colleges about the issue.
