A DRIVER had a lucky escape when he lost control on a bend and ploughed into a dry stone wall.
The 32-year-old was in a blue Vauxhall Vectra travelling on Upper Heaton Lane towards Kirkheaton when the car hit the wall on the opposite side of the road.
He was not injured and no other cars were involved. Police were called to the scene just after 8 this morning.
The man, who asked not to be named, said he lost control after his near-side (passenger side) wheel passed over a dipped grate at the side of the road.
"The car was tight to the edge when it went down the dip. With it being wet, I lost control and couldn't do anything."
The driver, who hails from Castleford, said he believed it was a "defect" in the road which needed correcting.
"I think it's a poor road and I will be reporting it to the council."
He was travelling to a caravan park at Grange Moor when the accident happened. His wife attended the scene, along with police and a recovery truck.
A police spokesman said the crash had been reported to them at 8:02am. He confirmed that no one had been hurt.
