Cafe culture has come to the John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield.

A chic licensed coffee shop, HD1 Café-Bar, has opened within the Stadium Health and Fitness Club, behind the Fantastic Media Stand.

HD1, which serves Costa coffee and Heineken products, provides stylish and comfortable seating both inside and out.

It provides facilities for clients at the stadium fitness centre and swimming pool and others who want to drop in.

HD1, run by stadium catering company Sodexo Prestige, serves home-baked food and has a range of breakfast and lunch options and daily specials.

The design, by Kyle Wisniewski, creative director of Breaking Free Design, was inspired by London-based coffee shops.

Sodexo sales and marketing manager Fenny Greenfield said: “We wanted to create a space like no other within the surrounding area, an upmarket venue with a more sophisticated feel for people to come and enjoy.

“We are proud to be able to offer fresh food daily. Unlike most franchise cafes we don’t buy in our food pre-made, we have a dedicated chef working early to provide the freshest food possible, from our sandwiches to our cakes, nothing will be seen two days running.”

The cafe bar will be open weekdays 7.30am-4pm and on matchdays – the hours depend on kick-off times – and be another place for football and rugby league fans to grab a pint or two before or after a game.

The cafe bar will also be available for hire.
