SHE’S still only 19 but Katy Bradbury has already organised a heat of the Miss England competition, manages a showgirl dance troupe and is about to open her own dancing school.
And in her spare time she’s launching a lingerie business with her best friend, Jade Buckley.
There’s no doubt that this is a young woman with ambitions.
Katy was just 18 when she bought the rights to stage the Miss Bradford heat of the Miss England competition and set about tackling the daunting task. She had decided to go into events management after helping a friend to organise the Miss Hull competition.
“My friend told me I’d need a year to get everything together,” she said. “But I had to do it in six months.
“It was the last heat to run and took place on May 20th as the Miss England final was in June. I will be applying to run it again next year.”
She paid £2,000 for the rights to stage the event and then found sponsors from among local businesses. There were 40 applications from hopeful girls, with 18 appearing on the night in front of a crowd of 300 people.
Katy, who lives in Birkby, is a former Huddersfield Grammar School pupil and attended the Centre Pointe educational dance college in Manchester between the ages of 16 and 18. She has been dancing since the age of three and is a past pupil of the Audrey Spencer dancing school in Huddersfield.
