Clicking on to the arts in valley

A SHOWCASE for all that is arty – launched in May – is going strong in the Holme Valley.

The Holmfirth Art and Music website brings together information about all the artistic activities based in Holmfirth and around the valley.

The website, idea of parish councillor Andrew Otterburn, has links to around 50 choirs, bands, artists, sculptors, potters, and photographers.

Clr Otterburn, a former Chairman of Holme Valley Parish Council, said: “Building the site has been a real insight into the depth of musical and artistic talent within the Valley.

“It is a great way to showcase the wide range and versatility of individuals and groups in the area.

“The range of talent in this area is breathtaking”, he said.

“ The site’s objective is to support and encourage the development of art and music in Holmfirth and the Holme Valley by raising the profile of the area as an art and music destination.”

The website was designed and built by Worthington Brown, who also designed the logo.

“It uses brush strokes, and paint splats in the bottom of the design to the left of the music notes to symbolise the creativity side,” said Clr Otterburn.

“It also symbolises the water, the river, running through Holmfirth.”
