Dressed for action in the land of make-believe

A DAY of fairy tales meant dress-up fun for the tots at Helme Junior & Infants’ School.

Storyland Day saw youngsters at Key Stage One donning their favourite costumes and taking part in a day of themed activities.

Fiction and fact were fused across the curriculum with the children trying out a range of tasks mimicking famous tales – including The Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk.

The exercises included learning about making porridge and giving it a taste before the bears come home, planting some beans to see if they would grow into a beanstalk, and making some paper flowers.

In the afternoon all the children had a visit from the Big Bad Wolf –but he was soon scared off before the home-time bell went.
