Ice cool Matthew scoops top award

HARD WORK has paid off for many young trainees in the region resulting in an array of awards.

The Yorkshire Region of the Heating and Ventilating Contractors’ Association (HVCA) took advantage of their annual ball to present awards to nine young trainees – including one from the Holme Valley.

Matthew Lander, of Crowther & Shaw Ltd, in Honley, was Yorkshire’s coolest winner, taking home the ‘Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineer Award’.

Surrounded by examples of British engineering at its best, the event –at the National Railway Museum in York – saw almost 400 members come together to celebrate their achievements.

HVCA president John Miller praised the trainees on their achievements and paid tribute to the vital role played by both their employers and Leeds College of Building.

Wishing them well for the future, he added that all the trainees had a bright future ahead of them, in a “strong and vibrant industry”.
