Queen Abigail hopes to beat the weather!

Queen Abigail hopes to beat the weather!

NEW MILL Gala has its queen for 2008 – who is praying for sunshine.

This year’s lucky girl is Abigail Bray, 12, from New Mill.

She will be officially crowned by last year’s queen Jessica Heron on gala day in June.

Last year, the unfortunate Jessica was the queen without a gala, as the summer floods saw it cancelled for the first time in its 30-year history.

It’s the first time Abigail has been gala queen, although it’s not a family first, as older sister Kirsty had the privilege in 2005.

Abigail’s attendants and page boys are as follows:

Seven to 10 years attendants – Courtney Wright, 10 and Roisin Millett, 8.

Four to six years attendants – Hollie Gorse, 4, Eloise Galloway, 4 and Taylah Washington-Wood, 4.

Four to six years page boys – Mason Saville, four and Joshua six-year-old Galloway, six.

The 2008 New Mill Gala will take place on Saturday, June 21. A parade will set off from the church at 1pm and the gala will include stalls, a bouncy castle, rugby display, face painting, a bar and possibly live bands.
