Milestone birthday for former landlady

A STALWART of the Holmfirth pub scene celebrated a landmark birthday last weekend.

Angela Roberts, landlady of popular local, The Nook, for almost thirty years, commemorated her 80th birthday with a party at the Old Bridge Hotel in Holmfirth.

Her daughter and current Nook landlady, Sheila Sutton, hailed her mother’s service to the town.

She said: “Mum was the landlady of The Nook from 1965 and ran it with my dad David Roberts until ill health prevented her from carrying on in the early 1990s.

“This is a great milestone for an individual who was a very important part of Holmfirth.”
