Day of the dragon for valley village

VILLAGERS in the Holme Valley will be showing off their patriotic nature this weekend in their traditional way.

A huge dragon will parade round the streets of Brockholes tomorrow (Sunday) as children from the village celebrate St George’s Day.

The processions begins at St George’s Church, Brockholes, at 12pm and will snake its way round the village with accompaniment by the Honking Hedgers brass band.

At 12.30pm there will be barbecue and at 1.30pm a St George’s celebration, both at the church, to mark the anniversary of England’s patron saint.

Proceed profits will go to Marie Curie cancer charity and the church.
