Intrepid fundraiser welcomed in valley

AN intrepid disabled adventurer has been welcomed to the Holme Valley as she begins her latest challenge.

Parish councillors – including the newly-elected chairman Trevor Bellamy, were out in force to greet Judy Woolfenden as she finished the first leg of her month-long road trip up to Scotland and back.

Judy suffers from spinal muscular atrophy - a progressive muscle wasting disorder – but has fought on to complete a number of personal challenges and fund-raising bids.

These have included trekking around the Arctic Circle and completing the Great North Run up in Newcastle.

Clr Bellamy has donated a weekend stay at his guest house, the Corn Loft, to Judy’s charity and said all the parish councillors wished her luck on her Scottish caper, a celebration marking the tenth anniversary of her first challenge.

Clr Bellamy was given a letter from the Mayor of Kenilworth by the disabled fund raiser, Judy Woolfenden watched by parish councillors (pictured from left) Peter Searby and Les Bailey, team members, Isabella Webster and Paul Seward with Thongsbridge Caravan Site proprietors, Hazel and Philip Peaker, where Judy stopped with her motor-home overnight during her Scottish Challenge.
