Phillip Nuttal of Eyam showed the children at Sunday’s service at Birdsedge Church his radio-controlled Ferrari to demonstrate that we need power and control in our lives to live successfully. Power comes from the Holy Spirit – Jesus is our guide. He spoke to the adults later about Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ (his half-brother) and of his dedication to Jesus. Next week’s communion service will be taken by Tom Wood. Read

Canon Martyn Crompton welcomed the congregation and led the Family Communion service at St John’s Church. Roger Hanson gave the reading from Matthew, chapter 13, on which Canon Martyn based his talk. During the service, Canon Martyn baptised Albert Judd Chaplin Newby. Anne Crosland led prayers and Ann Norton was the organist. Sunday Club took part in the service, but now have a summer break in activities until September 7. Read
