BROCKHOLES

Neil Ward led worship at the Methodist Church when Paul Grant read the lesson and the organist was Michael Brown.

Morning worship at St George’s Church was conducted by Margaret Kenworthy, who also gave the address. Kate Drake read the lesson and Elizabeth Mosley led intercessions. Noel Clarke played the organ.

HEPWORTH

At Holy Trinity Church on Sunday morning, the Rev Steve Dixon celebrated parish eucharist. The reader was Graham Latham and prayers were led by Stella Southam. The organist was Jane Robertson.

On Monday evening, members of the Ladies Group walked to Scholes Methodist church where they enjoyed an illustrated talk about Indian embroidery by Mary Holt.

More than 80 people attended a cookery demonstration by Tim Bilton of The Butchers Arms in the village hall on Wednesday evening. Organised by Cathy Hesketh on behalf of Hepworth Church, guests enjoyed canapes and wine as well as watching Yorkshire Chef of the Year Tim at work.

A Greek evening, including the showing of the film Mamma Mia" took place in the village hall on Friday evening. As well as singing along to the songs, Greek style food was served by committee members of the Hepworth Senior Citizens Christmas party fund.

HOLMBRIDGE

Midweek communion at St David's Church was led by the Rev Geoff Banks when Ian Gold read the lesson. Friday prayers were led by Carolyn Burley.

The Rev Geoff Banks conducted early communion on Sunday at St David’s Church. He also officiated at parich eucharist when lessons were read by Alison Wise and Margaret Tupling. Thelma Nelson led intercessions and the chalice was administered by Ian Macdonald. Dale and Helen Woods led the creche and junior church. The organist was Eddie Purcell.

HOLMFIRTH

The Second Sunday of Easter was celebrated at Holmfirth Holy Trinity Church with a 10.30am parish eucharist service at which the celebrant was the Rev John Capstick. He was assisted with the chalice by Sue Winter who also led the Intercessions. Reader was Anita Womersley. Mr Capstick spoke about the joy and meaning of Easter. Sue Styring and Elizabeth Sheard served coffee after the service. A St George's Day Service will be held tomorrow at 10.30am.
