A MILNSBRIDGE community group has finished a long-running painting project in the village centre.

Milnsbridge Enhancement Group members finally finished painting the railings on River Street in Milnsbridge last Saturday.

The painting began several years ago and MEG volunteers have been fitting it in among other projects.

They have also had occasional help from groups such as Slaithwaite Scouts.

The paint for the project was donated by Milnsbridge businesses.

Abi Bliss, MEG treasurer, said: “It’s been a question of finding time because we are all volunteers and have other projects.”

MEG are currently considering whether to replace a riverside seat and benches at Britannia Road, which were recently destroyed by vandals.
