BROCKHOLES

Mr Terry Frost led worship at the Methodist Church. The reader was Mr Paul Grant and the organist was Mr Keith Garside.

Family communion at St George's Church was celebrated by the Rev David Barnes. who took as his theme Jesus, the Good Shepherd. Joan Oldfield read the lesson and Roger Kenworthy was the server. The organist was Verena Wood.

HEPWORTH

Three great acts took to the stage last Friday night for Hepworth’s first ever ‘Comedy Nigh’t. Professional comedians Jim Smallman, Danny Deegan and Dominic Woodward gave an evening of laughter in the village hall.

At Hepworth Church on Sunday morning, the Rev Sean Robertshaw conducted parish eucharist. The reader was Lorraine Pollitt, prayers were led by Stella Southam and the organist was Jane Robertson. Next Sunday morning, there’s a Team Service at Holmfirth Church at 10am so no service at Hepworth.

This Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the Hepworth Players put on two plays in the village hall: Confusions by Alan Ayckbourne and Last Tango in Hepworth by David Tristram. With a warning on the display boards that the performances may contain mild language, slight sexual innuendo and limp violence, the audience were not disappointed.

HOLMBRIDGE

Three's Company, a meeting for the elderly, took the form of a quiz organised by Carolyn Burley.

Holmfirth Camera Club held its annual exhibition and presentation of awards at the North Light Gallary, Armitage Bridge. The event was chaired by Phil Hack and the award for photographer of the year went to Gill Sharp.

The Rev Geoff Banks led midweek communion at St David's Church when Ian Gold read the lessons. Meetings of the Over 60s, Tumble Tots and Monkey Business groups were held during the week. Friday prayers were led by Ian Gold.
