Sneaked in through insecure front door stealing wallet/contents and clothing. Kirkburton, Jun 1. Used ladder to climb through an open first floor window. Suspect is disturbed by complainant and runs downstairs through the kitchen and unlocks rear door. No property taken. Kirkburton, Jun 2. Used ladders to get into first floor bathroom window where entry gained to the house. Alarm activated. Stole laptop and video game player. Kirkburton, May 29. Cut wires to telephone then tried to drill a hole in rear window. Then drilled a panel on rear conservatory door and reached in to unlock door with key left on inside. Stole cash. Kirkburton, May 29. Smashed the landing window and stole electrical goods, toys and groceries. Almondbury, Jun 3. Forced padlock on side door to detached garage.     Members of the Association of Christian Fellowship and members’ husbands from St Barnabas’ Church, Crosland Moor, visited the Chantry Chapel in Wakefield, where they were given a very comprehensive history of the chapel by Malcolm Warburton and Kate Taylor. The full name of the chapel is, The Chantry Chapel of St. Mary the Virgin, it is situated on a medieval bridge and originally dates from the 14th century, but the upper part was rebuilt in 1847-48. It is now under the care of the Dean and Chapter of Wakefield Cathedral and services are held there on the first Sunday of each month, it also holds open days. Special features of the chapel are the beautiful Victorian stained glass windows and the more recent gargoyles on the outside of the building. After visiting the chapel, the party then travelled to the Wetherby Whaler for their evening meal. The outing was arranged by the secretary Kathleen Pratt. Read
