    The Association of Christian Fellowship from St. Barnabas’ Church enjoyed a beautiful evening for their annual car rally coordinated by the secretary Kathleen Pratt. The route and clues were planned by Geoffrey and Susan Baldwin and Philip and Joyce Bradley and covered the areas of Meltham, Honley, Farnley Tyas and Denby Dale, finishing at the Sovereign Inn at Shepley where the competitors enjoyed a bar meal. Nine cars competed and the winning team for the third year was Bruce and Angela Jackson, Rachael Jackson and Mark Joy, therefore retaining the trophy. The team drawn to plan next year’s rally is Margaret Cooper, Mavis Armitage, Colin and Ann Harris. Read

    Brockholes WI met in the Methodist Church parlour last Tuesday when speaker was Brian Curran, Yorkshire area fund-raiser manager for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Brian gave information about the various ways funds were raised and also spoke about how Marie Curie works with PCTs and its hospices, and how the organisation first started. Edith Johnston proposed a vote of thanks and Elizabeth Mosley won the competition for a bookmark. Read
