A GENEROUS mum said "no" to 30th birthday gifts in favour of raising money for her favourite charities.
Mum of two, Emma Borg, from Linthwaite, held a landmark party at Broad Oak Bowling Club – but instead of receiving gifts she asked her guests to donate to a charity box
In total she raised £175 for Family Fund, a charity that helps children with disabilities and their families, and Cancer Research UK.
Emma said: "My six-year-old son, Jack and two-year-old son Joel helped collect monies from guests and with his help we raised that extra bit! I knew that I wanted to raise money for the Family Fund.
"This is close to our hearts as someone very special to us had support and help from this charity and the work they do is fantastic and deserves recognition.
"I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to all my guests for such a memorable, fantastic and rewarding 30th and sincere thanks for their generosity to the chosen charities."
And the party was a double celebration for Emma as she recently graduated from university for the second time and has a new teaching job to look forward to.
