HOLMFIRTH
The Second Sunday of Epiphany was celebrated at Holy Trinity with 10.30 Parish Eucharist. The Rev Keith Griffin was the celebrant and he was assisted with the chalice by Linda Whitaker. Richard Sheard read from 1 Corinthians 12 v1-11 and Neil Sykes led the Intercessions. Keith and Barbara Jones served coffee after the service. There will be no service in Holy Trinity on Sunday – meeting instead at Christ Church, New Mill at 10 am.
HONLEY
Family communion at St Mary's Church was celebrated by the Rev David Barnes. John Ambler read the lesson and the organist was Vernon Briggs.
UPPERTHONG
Family communion at St John’s Church was led by the Rev Di Ellerton, who was also the celebrant. The readers were Graham Dawson and Rachael Haslam. Val Shuttleworth read the gospel and gave the sermon. Sue Dawson led prayers and assisted with the chalice. The organist was Hazel Thompson. Coffee and biscuits were served afterwards by Ruth Scorah.
WOOLDALE
The service on Sunday at Wooldale Methodist Free Church was led by Ann Leigh who talked on the importance of prayer in our daily lives. She read a letter to the congregation as if it was from God – reminding everyone of all the missed opportunities of prayer, for instance sat on the train/bus walking the dog having our lunch relaxing at home after a long day. It also showed the importance of how God will never give up and will wait until we are ready to come before him in prayer.The pianists were Jane and Elizabeth.
Sunday worship at the Methodist Church was led by Granville Dews. The organist was Nigel Morris.
