Mallinsons named the best by CAMRA members
THEY’RE hopping for joy after being named top brewery.
Mallinsons rated highly among real ale drinkers at the autumn festival of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
And they impressed drinkers from the North East to Southampton who put Mallinsons top for the best bitter, the best new beer, the best strong ale and the best overall.
Tara Mallinson, from the Plover Road, Lindley, brewery said: “It’s nice that we’ve got the support of people from all over the country, not just in our home town.
“They’ve probably had one of our beers elsewhere and wanted to try it locally.”
Mallinsons produce four beers but will create beers specially for events or pubs, with Tara selecting the malt and hops then designing the beer with Mallinsons staff.
And they’re preparing for the busy Christmas period.
Tara added: “Real ale continues to be a strong, growing market.
“There are new pubs opening locally so the market is getting stronger.”
Michael Robinson from CAMRA said: “They won four out of seven awards, which is quite something.
“We had people from all over the country voting, so it’s not the case of Huddersfield people supporting their local brewery.
“People like what they’ve tasted – and they like what Mallinsons are producing.”
