Martial arts instructor is recovering well after cancer

WHEN he was given the news that he had prostate cancer, karate instructor Bernard Taylor’s reaction was to stay positive.

Now six months after starting his treatment the Linthwaite man looks set to beat the disease.

And he puts much of his recovery down to his martial arts training which he says has helped him keep a healthy body and mind.

Bernard, 65, joint founder of Colne Valley Black Belt Academy, is nearing the end of his treatment.

He will still have to have regular check-ups, but the prognosis is good.

He said: “I feel absolutely great, but then I’ve been feeling great all the way through my treatment.

“I’ve finished my radiotherapy and have got to go and see the specialist again at the end of April again for my final check-up.
