Colne Valley Round Table members of to Nurburgring in old bangers to raise money for Help for Heroes
FUNDRAISERS are taking old bangers to a legendary European racing circuit in aid of Help for Heroes.
Members of Colne Valley Round Table are taking on the 1,000-mile round trip to raise money for the charity which helps wounded soldiers.
Eleven ageing cars will travel from Huddersfield to the famous Nurburgring in Germany.
Luke Singleton, who has helped organise the event, said: “The idea is that you can’t spend more than £500 on a car. We’ve got an old Jag, a Mondeo and a Volvo among others. Some of the cars are more than 15 years old.
“We plan to do some laps of the circuit when we get there.”
Thirty-one people, including serving and former members of the military, have signed up for the event.
The group will set off from the Jack O’Mitre in Scammonden next Thursday, April 28.
Anyone who would like to sponsor the team can call Luke on 07846 764208.
