IT’S a family affair for David Blunt and his three daughters.

‘Team Blunt’ will be running the Jane Tomlinson Run For All Leeds 10k in memory of David’s late daughter, Katrin.

Mother-of-two Katrin, 28, of Skelmanthorpe, died tragically following an accident at home three years ago.

Katrin, an office clerk, was a keen runner and the family have decided to honour her by running in her memory.

The family have so far raised £2,200 to be split between the Forget Me Not Trust (FMNT), Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) and Help for Heroes.

Sisters Kierston, 33, of Honley, Jilly, 37, of Kirkburton, and Jacqui, 40, of Suffolk, are keen runners who have raised cash for charity in previous long-distance runs.

But the run on June 19 is a first for David, 60, whose job as a risk manager leaves little time for exercise.

David, originally from Kirkburton, said: “The girls have always competed in the Leeds 10k as did Katrin. I haven’t so my intention is to finish.

“I’ve been training since the start of the year. I have a job that involves lots of travelling so I don’t have much time to exercise.

“It’s also good to get the family back together again as it’s the anniversary of Katrin’s death and it makes it easier for us to deal with.”

The Jane Tomlinson Run For All (http://runforall.com) was established in honour of Jane, an honorary graduate of Huddersfield University, who raised £1.75m for charity through endurance events before she died in September, 2007.

Huddersfield University now gives an annual Jane Tomlinson Award to students who make outstanding voluntary contributions to good causes.
