George Chapman (real name Severin Klosowski) who is a suspect in the Jack The Ripper hunt. It all began at 3. 40am on Friday August 31, 1888, as George Cross walked to work along a dimly lit alley in London's grimy East End. By the light of the single gas lamp he spotted what he first thought was a bundle of tarpaulin, but to his horror he had stumbled across the body of prostitute Polly Nichols - the first victim of Jack The Ripper. In the next ten weeks the brutal killer slaughtered another four prostitutes who were mutilated beyond belief6 of 7 ![]()
