A kids’ party venue is having another go at applying for an alcohol licence after council officials refused the first due to noise complaints.

Marsh party venue Popkidz were denied the licence last year following upset in the community over excessive noise.

But the children’s events company have since resolved noise issues, and have been warned against cigarette litter or throwing 18th and 21st bashes as part of the conditions for holding the licence.

Police are warning of a number of fake Scottish £20 notes in circulation in the area.

A spokesperson said: “We have had several calls from shopkeepers in the Holmfirth area about a male attempting to pay for goods with a fake Scottish £20 note.
“Usually, people with fake notes tend to keep trying to spend them until they get rid of them, so please be aware that there are some in the area.”

Cooper Bridge was jammed up this morning when I came in and it’s still a bit chok-a-block according to our travel alerts.

There’s stop-start traffic on A644 Wakefield Road from A62 Cooper Bridge Road (Cooper Bridge Roundabout) to M62 J25 roundabout.

Town go into this weekend’s fixture against Birmingham City hoping to halt a run of losses. The Terriers poor form since manager Chris Powell left has seen them lose to Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough.

With new manager David Wagner having links with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, the club have been linked with some of the Reds youngsters. You can read chairman Dean Hoyle’s thoughts on the matter via this tweet.

Last December, 181 people were charged for drink driving related offences (153 men, 30 women) in West Yorkshire.
There were two cases of drug-driving.

Officers carried out 1,273 roadside breath tests in December 2014 and of those charged, 26 came from Kirklees.

The most common age range for those charged was 25 - 34 years.

Staff have suddenly walked out at Meltham Post Office .

The Carlile Institute branch on Huddersfield Road is currently closed to the public, due to a decision taken by employees this morning.

The closure has been blamed by Richard Noon, secretary for the Meltham Carlile Community Interest Company and independent town councillor, on a “breakdown in communication in the branch.”

Here’s what I have so far- I’ll bring you more soon.

One lane closed, very slow traffic and long delays due to recovery work on M62 Eastbound between J26 M606 / A58 (Chain Bar) and J27 M621 / A650 / A62 (Gildersome), congestion on M62 to J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor).
Lane one (of four) is closed after a van has fallen onto its side and is being recovered. Affecting traffic towards Leeds from Huddersfield.

Slow traffic and lane blocked due to broken down vehicle on M62 Westbound between J26 M606 / A58 (Chain Bar) and J25 A644 (Brighouse).

Affecting traffic from Wakefield towards Manchester.
